Coming into Quartzsite from the east. In the distance you can see the 'city of white' created by all of the RVers who inhabit Q in the winter.
This rig belongs to Diane (Sage). She's a member of a rockhound group and this spot is about a mile from Dome Rock. She and her friends camped here while in Q for the January Rock Show. I stayed overnight here too.
My rig. I know my Casita doesn't look level, but it was.
Stately ol' saguaro that has seen healthier days.
This fiberglass Scamp was in the next camp over. The owner is a gold prospector. (Yes, people still do that in the west.)
The weekend before the Gathering, I moved my rig to Dome Rock in order to stake my claim on a good spot before the throngs arrive.
Several others arrived the next day. The BLM area namesake, Dome Rock, in the background.
George Campbell, the Rally Host (in the knit hat) chats with Mary Ellen and Betty, his wife.
www.CasitaForum.com's Webmaster Gene. On the left is a rig belonging to Jeff and Glenda.
Mel, who carries every took in his entire garage in the back of his truck. He and Gene are neighbors (at home) and mod competitors. :)
The first couple of days I was in Q, the clouds were plentiful. On this day, they resembled cotton balls.
Casita owner, GrandJan, now travels in a Rockwood Mini Lite so she has more room when camping with her grandkids. Her Casita is back home in Louisiana.
Dome Rock BLM, looking eastward
My Casita is still looking a little lonely at this point, but that will soon change. Meanwhile, the clouds keep putting on a interesting show.
More Casitas arrive. Let the visiting begin!
On the right, it appears that a previous camper decided to do some 'desert landscaping' by removing the rocks and creating a square shape for their patio rug (I'm assuming).
Looking east, that's George & Betty's Casita. In front of them are Blair and Linda.
Rare 'greenery' at Dome Rock.
Jan (GrandJan), Diane (Sage) and me at the Quartzsite Yacht Club. We ordered their tasty fish & chips!
The sun sets over Quartzsite.
WtMtJim & Alice's rig (left) and mine.
Luis (vargalu), Alan Knudson and Webmaster Gene.
Diane (Sage), Diane (Dragonfly), WtMtJim & Alice and Janice (GrandJan).
Diane (CAgal), Bruce (He Walks With Geezers), Jeff (DirtDawg) getting ready to go target shooting.
WtMtJim & Alice visit with Webmaster Gene
Some days were fairly windy, so the tent became the place to hang out and visit.
View of the mountains across I-10 from Dome Rock.
Dome Rock is starting to fill up. Eventually there would be nearly 90 fiberglass trailers in the area.
Brothers Alan and Doug Knudson.
My rig, now surrounded by friends and the Swap Meet tents.
The Solos go to dinner. CSJim, Diane (Sage), Jeff (DirtDawg) who's in there somewhere, Diane (Dragonfly) and Janice (Grandjan).
